Having prescription lens integrated to the headset directly made a huge difference to my the VR experience. For some reason the image quality look better.
But more than that, frankly it felt weird in a good way. With these lens, in the VR world I feel like I see clearly with my own eyes. Whereas in the real world I am used to the dust on my eyeglass and the weight on my nose. Seeing clearly with my eyeball is an experience I haven't had in 30+ years.
In the real world, I only need a mild distance prescription for driving, and I only see a slight difference between glasses on and glasses off, but it's just enough to prevent headaches while driving.
But anyway I thought I'd give these Reloptix lenses a try as I thought they would at least protect my G2 lenses, and I liked the idea of the easily removable magnetic feature.
I already thought the image in my G2 was good, but I did wonder why some people described theirs as such an amazing image.
Then I fitted these lenses, and WOW, someone turned the lights on! For some reason, the difference to me, between using these lenses or not using them in the G2, is greater than in the real world, and the image in my G2 is much sharper with these fitted.
I think the sweet spot is very slightly smaller, at least I seemed to have to adjust the headset just a bit more precisely, but the improvement for me is very noticeable using these lenses. Also they are close to the eyes, so they may not be suitable if you like using the modded wider FOV interface. I use the VRCover replacement interface, and it's a close fit between eyes and Reloptix lenses (but still fine) with the thinner foam interface.
They took a few weeks due to a large backlog of initial orders, but once shipped, they only took 7 days to get from Colorado to UK, but even with shipping costs I feel these are well worth it. I will definitely buy another pair in the future, highly recommended.
What can I say about Reloptix? Hmmm superior design, quality, novel idea, excellent value. This start up operation exceeds all expectations. For a small business, struggling with COVID like the rest of us, Reloptix went above and beyond. I’m a big fan. Now I have to buy another set of lenses for the missus!
